Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign one of the most in-form strikers in world football. They may have found their new no.9.

Liverpool want to sign a new striker this summer. That much is blindingly obvious as they're actively trying to sell Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan hasn't lived up to expectations at Anfield, even if he's come closer to it than some think. But in this system, with Liverpool needing a reliable goalscorer through the middle, Nunez plainly isn't it.

There's another problem, however: potential targets. Liverpool would love to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United but the Magpies qualified for the UEFA Champions League and have very little need to sell.

Hugo Ekitike would be a great signing but Eintracht Frankfurt know full well he's an Isak alternative. That's seen them raise his asking price significantly.

Similar has happened with Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig and then there's the added issue of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all looking for new strikers at the same time. Prices are out of control.

Liverpool, though, may have found a different target and a way to get him at a good price. Once again, we're back to Nunez.

Liverpool in talks for Victor Osimhen

Liverpool are reported discussing a move with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, per Team Talk. The Nigerian is fully expected to leave the club this summer after spending last season on loan with Galatasaray.

Of course, everyone expected Osimhen to leave last summer. That didn't happen for various reasons but an incredible campaign in Turkey makes a move feel near-certain this time around.

And Liverpool are long-time admirers of Osimhen. Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that he was on the agenda heading into this summer back in January.

Discussions with Napoli over Nunez and Federico Chiesa have apparently opened the door further, though. Liverpool are now seeing if three deals are viable with the Italian champions.

It's difficult for all three players to be involved in the same transfer but we can't imagine that's the aim here. Instead, Liverpool and Napoli will attempt to strike three different deals that appear to suit everyone involved.

Osimhen has consistently been one of the best goalscorers in world football over the last several years. He's pretty much exactly what Liverpool are after as they hunt down a new no.9 so it'll be interesting to see if these talks can lead anywhere.
