Liverpool begin work to complete extraordinary £60m deal
The Reds could be about to complete an extraordinary transfer this summer.
It is going to be the biggest test by far in Richard Hughes' career. The Liverpool sporting director has done well when it comes to his recruitment at Bournemouth.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool have advantage in Julian Alvarez pursuit
But nothing will have prepared him for the task at hand at Liverpool. This summer he's going to be dealing with needing to replace the creative flair left behind by Trent Alexander-Arnold, finding a new centre-back, left-back and right-back.
On top of that, he has an even more fundamentally important issue to solve. Signing a new no.9 for Arne Slot.
It has become apparent that the no.9 position is where Liverpool need to strengthen the most.
There have been so many names mentioned who are reportedly on Liverpool's radar. From Alexander Isak to Julian Alvarez and Hugo Ekitike.

All of them are of interest to Liverpool. But perhaps the best signing of them all might just be an entirely different name.
Victor Osimhen is on the market. Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that Liverpool are very keen on the Nigerian as a replacement for Darwin Nunez.
And now according to TBR Football Liverpool have already done work on bringing Osimhen to the club this summer as an alternative to Alexander Isak.
The site claims his preference is to join the Premier League and that Manchester United are also interested in him.
It's also claimed that Napoli would allow Osimhen to leave for an extraordinary £60m figure. A significant drop in price in comparison to last year when Osimhen was touted around the £100m mark.
It's not like his stock has fallen since. Osimhen has continued to score goals for fun during his loan spell in Galatasaray.
He's made 41 goal contributions in 37 matches, showcasing very much that he's still one of the best forwards in world football.
This is a player who almost single-handedly helped Napoli lift their first ever scudetto in 30 years only a few years ago.
Osimhen has set records in Serie A and he's still at the prime of his career at just 26-years-old.
In the current market, you're not going to find anyone who is available for £60m and close to the talent that Osimhen is. He's one of a kind and that's why Liverpool should absolutely be all over this move.
The fact that they are reportedly already working on bringing him to Anfield is music to our ears. This could be an extraordinary move. It would easily be the transfer of the summer.
