Liverpool have a number of scouts on the look out all the time for the next big thing.

All of the elite clubs behave in a similar way, although Michael Edwards data-drive approach is driving the Reds efforts, meaning the players who are linked with a move are extremely special.

Unless the club is particularly interested in making their interest formal, you might not be aware that Liverpool are following them, but Anfield Watch is constantly keeping an eye on the transfer rumours.

Back in October, we reported that Liverpool had sent scouts to follow the fastest player in Europe, who is currently employed by Eintracht Frankfurt. We speculated about our chances of signing him.

Now, however, the rumour mill is suggesting that one of the Reds' rivals might be looking to ramp up their interest in this extraordinary star, and it's essential that Liverpool keep themselves in the loop.

Arsenal eye RARE young talent

According to a report from TeamTalk, the Gunners have entered the race to sign Jean-Matteo Bahoya, the 20-year-old Frenchman who only joined the Bundesliga last season from Angers.

Frankfurt paid a mere £10.2m for the electric star, who is considered to be one of the fastest attackers on the continent, with speeds reaching close to former sprinter Usain Bolt's records.

His 'explosive' profile has fascinated Mikel Arteta, according to one source, which also claims that Arsenal scouts have been sent to six of his games over the last few months. This level of undertaking is similar to how Liverpool see him, which shouldn't really be surprising given how impressive he is.

So far this season, he's scored three times and assisted once, playing regular first-team minutes.

It's noted that Frankfurt are dead-set against selling Bahoya in January, hoping to keep him until at least 2026, when a 'mammoth' asking price is going to be set for the young winger. As such, the situation isn't quite as alarming as it initially looked to be, although Arsenal's interest is concerning.

The prospect of a direct Premier League rival snatching away a highly-rated young talent is not something Liverpool will want to risk, especially when a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes.

So perhaps we might see the club put slightly more effort into the Frenchman from now on, since he's no longer flying under the radar. Extraordinary players like him do not come around very often.

Arsenal know it just as much as Liverpool do now - we've got a transfer battle on our hands.
