£87m Brazil forward is BACK on the menu for Liverpool
Liverpool’s transfer priorities for next summer will include signing at least one wide attacker.
That news was disclosed earlier this week by James Pearce in the Athletic with the trusted club insider revealing that Arne Slot and Richard Hughes wanted a new player with excellence in one-v-one duels.
Of course that means the immediate first-team futures of Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah are going to be plunged into doubt.
Gakpo’s not always impressed despite being a favourite of Slot while Salah could end up leaving for Al-Ittihad in summer 2026. That departure would open a gap for a new arrival - and there has been no shortage of names linked.
From Michael Olise to Yan Diomande it is clear that Reds recruiters are focussed on bringing in an electrifying talent.
Real Madrid want €100m (£87m) for Rodrygo
And one name now re-emerging on the list at Anfield is that of Rodrygo Goes. The Brazilian, 25, was heavily linked with Liverpool last summer when his Real Madrid future was uncertain.
The 15-time European champions placed a €100m (£87m) price on his head - but he ultimately stayed to fight for his place under Xabi Alonso.
The winger did recover his place in the first team but next summer is again shaping up to be key for the versatile attacker.
With a plethora of attacking options competing for his place in the team - including Franco Mastantuono, Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and Federico Valverde, Rodrygo could once again find himself well down the pecking order.
It's finally time to see Rodrygo in red
And according to a report in OK Diario Liverpool - along with Manchester United - will make a new attempt to sign Rodrygo in summer.
“Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes,” a report reads.
“The Old Trafford side, who will return to the Champions League next season, want to strengthen their attack, and those at Anfield have been following the Brazilian for some time.”
Liverpool have been all over Rodrygo since his emergence as a teen sensation back in Brazil with Santos. He was a target before moving to Madrid in 2019 - but the time could finally come to see him in red.
