Liverpool ready with £50m offer for Dutch breakout STAR
Liverpool have got several Dutch players in their first-team squad.
There is Virgil van Dijk - the club’s long-serving captain - leading the way and plenty more Netherlands internationals have since been signed.
Cody Gakpo came on board in 2023 - as did Ryan Gravenberch - while Jeremie Frimpong was recruited last summer.
They are all working under compatriot Arne Slot of course - who was brought to the club in 2023 and won the Premier League title at the first time of asking.
And now there are indications that the Reds are about to go into the market for ANOTHER Dutch star - and this time it’s in the form of a goalkeeper.
Liverpool interested in Robin Roefs
Robin Roefs, 23, has been in sensational form for Sunderland since arriving at the newly promoted Premier League club last summer.
The shot-stopper was a relatively unheralded signing for the Black Cats - costing only £10m or so from NEC in the Eredivisie. He inked a deal until 2030 having spent a solitary season as NEC’s first choice before taking the plunge in the English top flight.
The move has been a huge success with Roefs’ form propelling Sunderland up the table. Roefs has kept eight clean sheets in 24 league games and now it looks like the North East side are preparing to field bids over the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sunderland completed a deal for another goalkeeper at the end of the January window - signing Melker Ellborg from Malmo in a deal worth €4m.
Sunderland expecting £50m bid for Roefs
And according to a new report in Football Insider Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea are now all lining up bids for Roefs.
“Sunderland are aware of extensive interest in Roefs from the Premier League elite, led by Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea,” the report reads.
“The Black Cats are expecting huge offers for their keeper in the summer window.”
Roefs would cost over £50m - and he would join a stacked goalkeeping department with Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Liverpool brought in Mamardashvili last summer as backup for the Brazilian - whose current deal expires in 2027.
