How Liverpool can raise a RECORD amount this summer
The upcoming summer transfer window is being talked up as one of the most significant in Anfield history.
Off the back of winning the club’s 20th league title, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are looking to build on their early success and further strengthen the champions of England.

As well as bringing in fresh talent, a number of high-profile departures are expected in Merseyside, as was exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch earlier this year.
With a big outlay expected this summer, Hughes will be looking to recoup some funds in order to adhere to sustainable financial model preferred by owners FSG.
How Liverpool can raise funds
A new report by James Pearce for The Athletic has offered some insight into the summer plans behind the scenes at Anfield, and Liverpool could be set for a transfer windfall they have never seen before.
According to the report a number of stars are almost certain to leave. Darwin Nunez, Caoimhin Kelleher and Tyler Morton all fall into this category, but this won’t come as a surprise to the Anfield faithful.

Kelleher’s transfer value is estimated to be around €20.9 million by Football Transfers, and it is realistic to assume Liverpool will obtain a fee of around this mark for the Irish shot stopper.
Things are less simple for Nunez and Morton, who are valued at €60.9m and €7.9m respectively. A bid of £70m from Saudi Arabia was rejected in January for Nunez, as was exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch at the time, so the Reds could hold out for a similar figure this summer.
In his report, Pearce reveals that the club are holding out for a bid in the region of £20m (€23.m) to sanction the sale of Morton, so the Reds could get over double what Football Transfers estimate he is worth.
Who could leave Anfield?
There are also a number of stars who’s departures are possible but not guaranteed. Kostas Tsimikas, Federico Chiesa, Ben Doak and Harvey Elliott make up this class.
One of the club’s top priorities appears to be signing a new left-back, and Tsimikas will be the current option who is sacrificed if a deal is struck, according to Pearce.
The Greek defender is valued at €23.6m by FT, and a sale for this figure would see the Reds double the money they paid for the 28-year-old in 2020.
Chiesa and Elliott have both struggled for minutes this season, but departures for either player still donât seem a certainty. Chiesa arrived in Merseyside less than 12 months ago but is valued at âŹ21.2m by FT, and a sale for this amount would again see the Reds net a quick profit.
Interest in Doak, who has spent the season on loan at Middlesbrough, was clear in January when a number of Premier League sides had bids rejected for the young Scot. Doak is valued at âŹ15.9m by FT, but Pearce claims it would take a bid in excess of ÂŁ30m (âŹ35.2m) for a sale to be authorised.
Elliottâs future is the hardest to determine of everyone in this category. The boyhood Liverpool fan has been effective in his limited minutes this campaign, but hasnât been able to break in to Slotâs plans at all.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool line-up DREAM left-back transfer
The club are not actively looking to move Elliott on, but Pearce does say: âIf [Elliott] decides he wants to move on this summer, [Liverpool] would reluctantly consider offers.â Also adding there would be âno shortage of interestâ in the 22-year-old.
Valued at âŹ48.5m by FT, Elliott is definitely a player to keep an eye on going into the summer transfer window, and his 651 minutes in all competitions this season could cause the midfielder to look elsewhere.
The unlikely departures
There are also two players for whom Pearce does not rule out a sale, but the situations of both are very complicated.
The first is Jarell Quansah, valued at €26.2m by FT, who seems incredibly unlikely to be sold this off-season. Interest has been reported from around the Premier League, but Pearce reveals that talk of a £30m fee has been ‘dismissed’ by Liverpool – and it would take a lot more to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
It feels unlikely that any club will be willing to pay that far over the odds for the young Englishman, so we’re provisionally ruling out a move for Quansah at this stage.
The other unlikely departure is Ibrahima Konate, who is entering the final year of his contract.
Valued at €57.2m by FT, a deal for Konate feels a lot more likely and Pearce says Liverpool have a ‘big decision to make’ over the defender’s future.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that PSG are incredibly keen on bringing the Frenchman back to his homeland and, with contract negotiations dragging on, it may be hard for Hughes to turn down a fee in the region of Konate’s estimated market value this summer.
How much are Liverpool set to make?
Based purely off Football Transfersâ estimated market values of the above-mentioned players, not including Quansah, the Reds are set to receive up to âŹ256.1 million this summer.
If the inflated fees that Pearce mentions for Morton and Doak are included, that figure stands at âŹ291 million.
This doesnât include the potential sales of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, whoâs futures are less than certain, because Pearce states that the club do not want to lose the pair and there is no sign of the players forcing a move away either.
This income would blow Liverpoolâs current record transfer income for a single season out of the water, âŹ175.9m in 2017/18.

Such a potential windfall, combined with Liverpoolâs healthy financial position, should be enough to get any Red excited heading into the summer transfer window.
