Real Madrid sense Liverpool midfielder opportunity amid stalled contract talks
Liverpool tied up a big-money contract renewal for Ryan Gravenberch last weekend.
On Saturday it was announced that the Dutch midfielder had put pen-to-paper on a deal taking him up to the end of the 2031/32 season.
The 23-year-old is set to bank a fortune over the course of the contract - with wages alone before bonuses earning Gravenberch €100m according to Dutch sources.
It represents a key contract win for Richard Hughes - the Premier League champions’ sporting director whose next priority will be a new contract for Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Hungary captain - arguably even more important than Gravenberch - could end up making even more money than his midfield counterpart.
Is there any money left for Alexis Mac Allister?
Estimates in his home country suggest the 25-year-old is asking for up to £300k per week - an improvement on Gravenberch’s £277k per week pay packet.
With Liverpool already shelling out the Premier League’s highest wage bill it remains to be seen how much will be left over for Alexis Mac Allister.
He too is out of contract in 2028 and despite Paul Joyce claiming the contrary the player’s father disclosed over the weekend that NO contract talks were currently taking place.
And according to Estadio Deportivo Carlos Mac Allister’s comments have piqued the interest of Real Madrid - as well as big club around Europe.
Madrid's Mac Allister contract tip-off
“His father's comments have once again put his name on the radar of several European giants,” the report reads.
It’s clear Madrid are lacking an experienced midfield conductor - and as a World Cup winner and Premier League champion Mac Allister fits the bill perfectly.
Furthermore if Richard Hughes has got no plans to schedule contract talks with the 27-year-old it will soon be time to make a decision on his future.
The report claims Madrid are not in the planning stages of a move for Mac Allister as of yet but that could change if the 15-time European champions get an indication of his availability.
For now we must wait to see what kind of remaining wage budget Hughes has got to work with - then we will understand better whether or not Macca is getting a new deal.
