Liverpool hit roadblock in deal for £30m Brazilian prodigy
It was reported earlier this year that Liverpool were closing in on the signing of Allan - a 21-year-old attacking midfielder from Palmeiras in Brazil.
Allan would be coming on board for a fee of around £30m having impressed Reds’ recruiters. Liverpool’s interest in the Brazilian was matched by Newcastle and Napoli - with the Italian champions having had several offers for Allan turned away.
Admittedly the trail has gone a little cold in recent weeks but ESPN in Brazil has now brought a significant update. It’s being claimed that Allan WON’T be sold by Palmeiras in 2026 - with the club prioritising titles over transfer sales this year.
Palmeiras now refusing to sell Allan
“Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, has no interest in selling Allan, not even during the mid-year transfer window, which is the main one in Europe,” the report reads.
Liverpool may have to wait to add the attacker - who plays mostly on the right wing for his club side. He is described as a one-v-one specialist who can also play in midfield - favouring his left foot and beating markers to come inside.
Allan is under contract at the Sao Paulo-based outfit until 2029 and the club seemingly have no intention of being pushed around by European sides for their young talent.
Having sold Endrick and Estevao in recent seasons it looks like Palmeiras are ready to hang on to Allan just a little bit longer - giving Richard Hughes added frustration in the transfer market.
Palmeiras claimed the Campeonato Paulista at the weekend and currently sit top of the Brasileiro standings through four matches.
