22-year-old Germany star is coming to solve two Liverpool problems

There is a lot of doubt currently surrounding Liverpool’s back line.

Several of the Reds’ defenders could be moving on at the end of the season. We could see Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate leaving on free transfers while offers could also be entertained for Joe Gomez, Rhys Williams and Calvin Ramsay.

Those potential exits could take plenty off the wage bill - now at record levels - but would leave Arne Slot and Richard Hughes in need of reinforcements. An ideal solution would be finding a player who could cover multiple roles.

The Premier League champions have had issues at centre-back and right-back this season. Owing to an injury to Giovanni Leoni and a failure to land Marc Guehi Arne Slot has only had three senior options available to him at centre-back.

Over at right-back meanwhile injuries to both Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have had a big effect with midfielder pressed into action in that position.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Nnamdi Collins is on the radar

Now an opportunity to sign a player covering both positions has opened up with the news that Liverpool are seeking a deal for 22-year-old Germany international Nnamdi Collins.

That’s according to a report in Football Insider which claims the Anfield side are ready to go toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite to sign the versatile stopper.

“Liverpool and Arsenal are among a number of top European clubs keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt star Nnamdi Collins ahead of the summer transfer window,” the report reads.

Nnamdi Collins has broken through as one of Eintracht Frankfurt’s most intriguing young defenders, combining physical upside with growing Bundesliga and European exposure.

Role and form

Collins plays primarily as a right‑sided centre‑back but can also fill in at right‑back, bringing recovery pace, aggression in duels and a willingness to defend on the front foot. He has become a regular, logging consistent Bundesliga and Champions League minutes with strong defensive output in tackles, distance covered and top speed.

Contract and recent context

Frankfurt signed him from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 for around €1m (roughly £0.9m) on a five‑year deal to 2028 and have since moved to extend that towards 2030 in recognition of his progress. There have been only minor fitness interruptions – such as illness while on Germany U21 duty – and he is regarded internally as a long‑term piece rather than a short‑term sale.

Value and future

His current market valuation sits around €15m, approximately £13m, with reports of Frankfurt likely seeking closer to €35–40m (about £30–34m) if a big‑five‑league club comes calling.
