Mo Salah moves CLOSER to blockbuster Saudi Pro League deal
Liverpool are going to have to make a decision over Mohamed Salah very soon.
The Egyptian King, 33, agreed a bumper new contract during the closing stages of the 2024/25 season.
Back then the forward was probably the best player on the planet - carting off the Premier League’s top scorer, playmaker and best player awards as Liverpool won the title.
Richard Hughes signed off on a £400k per week contract for the two-time African footballer of the year - taking him up to 2027.
It’s clear however that there has been a rupture in the relationship between Salah and the club - plunging his future into doubt.
Salah future in doubt
The right-sided attacker fell out with his higher-ups before jetting off to the Africa Cup of Nations - accusing the club of throwing him under the bus and admitting that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot was non-existent.
Slot and Hughes dropped Salah for the squad for a Champions League game against Inter but were quick to welcome him back into the fold.
The relationship now looks to be patched up but Salah is set to leave the club at the end of the current season if an appropriate offer is made.
Leading the chase for his signature right now are thought to be Al-Ittihad - the Saudi super club who have just cleared space in their wage budget.
Al-Ittihad interest in Salah confirmed
Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante - their two highest-profile players - departed last week for Al-Hilal and Fenerbahce respectively.
It leaves space in the squad for Al-Ittihad to conclude a blockbuster move for Salah - with Benzema alone thought to be earning £1m a week at Ittihad.
And now the Portuguese press has weighed in - with A Bola confirming that Salah is the No1 target for Al-Ittihad.
The club are managed by former AC Milan coach Sergio Conceicao - the former Portugal international - which suggests A Bola have got the inside line on Salah’s next employers.
“Al-Ittihad, managed by Sérgio Conceição, has Mohamed Salah as its main target to fill the void left by Karim Benzema in the next transfer window,” the report reads.
Salah has been at Anfield since 2017 - winning the Premier League twice and the Champions League during a glorious spell on Merseyside.
The Salah era looks set to end this summer however with Liverpool set to cash in on a bumper offer from the Saudi Pro League.
