Liverpool have no choice but to move on from Yan Diomande.

The 19-year-old Ivorian had been courted heavily by the Reds - culminating in Richard Hughes’ bid of up to €100m for the winger.

RB Leipzig knocked back that bid and Liverpool were initially expected to return with an improved offer. Hopes of signing the FIFA World Cup sensation have been dashed however with the news that he prefers a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

There are no guarantees he leaves this summer - as he has got a contract extending to 2030 - but if he does go then PSG will be righ there to conclude a deal.

Liverpool back in the winger market

The outgoing Premier League champions have got other irons in the fire. Bundesliga pair Said El Mala and Bazoumana Toure are both on the list according to reports while we can expect movement for Bradley Barcola.

Options from within the Premier League exist too - with Rayan of Bournemouth said to be figuring in the Reds’ decision-makers’ thinking.

We may also see Liverpool drop into the Championship for a new forward - with a report in Fussball Daten now claiming that Mateus Mane is back in fashion.

The Wolves winger, 18, enjoyed a breakout Premier League season - featuring at attacking midfield or else out wide - but could not prevent his club sliding into the Championship.

The Portugal youngster is under contract until 2029 and initially it was expected that Wolves would seek to retain the exciting youngster

But a £35m offer from Liverpool could be too good to turn down and there are plenty of other clubs said to be in the race too.

£35m would be hard to turn down for Wolves

“The Wolves board will automatically reject any offers below £30 million,” the report reads.

“Market speculation even suggests that this valuation barrier could shift towards £35 million in the event of a bidding war between several clubs.”

Borussia Dortmund are reported to have held exploratory talks over a deal for Mane while Eintracht Frankfurt would also give the former Rochdale youngster a platform. But there are also several Premier League clubs in the frame - Liverpool included.

“Scouts from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle United, who compiled extensive dossiers on his performance data, development curve, and physical condition last season, are monitoring the player closely,” the report reads.

“However, none of these Premier League giants have yet submitted a concrete offer to Wolves.”

Now that we’ve seen Liverpool lose out on signing another gifted teenage attacker it could move Mateus Mane back into the club’s thinking.

Last season Mane got three Premier League goals and two assists for a very poor Wolves side - emphasising his quality.

And while Wolves would love to have him on board as they seek to bounce back offers coming from Liverpool and elsewhere will be hard to resist.
