£45m star CLOSER to Liverpool move after Arne Slot request
Arne Slot has a request for Liverpool and it moves one £45m star closer to Anfield. It's time to give him what he wants.
It’s safe to say that Arne Slot has earned his own squad. It’s also safe to say that Liverpool have been doing all they can to make that happen.
The transfers this summer have been incredible, with a club-record amount spent on Florian Wirtz. He’s now the future of Liverpool’s attack - one of the most talented players to ever join the Reds.
But they certainly haven’t stopped there. Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are new mega-signings at full-back. Hugo Ekitike is expected to join as a centre-forward, too, in another massive move.
That all takes Liverpool’s spending up towards £300m in this window. A ridiculous amount unlike anything we’ve ever seen at Anfield.
And yet, Liverpool still haven’t actually given Slot what he’s after. There’s more work to be done and it moves a £45m Premier League star closer to Anfield.

Marc Guehi is the answer to Slot's problem
The Athletic explains that Arne Slot wants two stars for each role in his squad. That's the way forward, it seems, but he doesn't actually have that right now.
It's particularly evident at the back, where Jarell Quansah left for Bayer Leverkusen. That transfer leaves Liverpool with three centre-backs - one short of Slot's requested number.
But it also leaves Liverpool shorter in their homegrown quota. There are two reasons to get a deal done, then, and one player certainly stands out in that regard.
Marc Guehi, as mentioned by the Athletic there, is a Liverpool target and appears to be 'the one' they want this summer. He's got one year left on his contract and Crystal Palace are open to a sale for the right price.
That price seems to be £45m - a high one for someone available for free in a year. But if Geuhi is the best option, and he certainly appears to be, then it's a price worth paying in order to give Slot the squad he's after.

No one will be complaining about that figure if Liverpool can build on last season's success with more silverware, after all. And as the Reds look to give Slot that two players for every role, a deal for Guehi looks all the more likely.
Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
