Liverpool forward to cash in with HUGE pay rise Liverpool and Luis Diaz have been unable to come to terms on a new contract - meaning the Colombian is set to leave the club.

With his current deal expiring in 2027, Diaz had been hoping for an extension and a pay rise at Anfield. Having been signed from Porto for an initial £37.5m back in 2022, Diaz is STILL on the same contract he agreed back then.

That is unusual for a Liverpool first-team star - with players normally rewarded as various increments throughout the lifetime of their contracts.

It’s believed the player wanted a contract to better reflect his standing in the squad. But Liverpool were either unwilling or unable to meet Diaz’s demands - previously said to be around £140k to £150k per week.

Bayern give Diaz mammoth offer

And with the duration of his contract running down, Liverpool risked missing out on a bumper pay day for Diaz.

The 28-year-old will command a fee of around €75m from Bayern - not bad money at all for a player of Diaz’s age and with only 24 months left on his contract.

And Diaz has also benefitted from the move to the tune of a mammoth pay rise. That’s according to a report in BILD, which claims Diaz will now be earning €14m per annum in Bavaria.

Diaz pay rises from €2.7m

“The winger, who can also play centrally, is expected to receive a four-year contract,” the report reads.

“However, he won't be among the absolute top earners, earning around €14 million per year.

“A significant increase compared to his salary in Liverpool, where he reportedly earned €2.7 million net per year.”

Diaz's Saudi sell-on clause

That reported €2.7m (£2.36m) net per year equates to roughly €4.9m (£4.25m) gross on UK tax. His new deal in Germany is worth a reported €14m (£12.25m) gross per year, equating to an estimated €7.7m (£6.73m) after tax.

Therefore Diaz is close to tripling his money by making the switch to Bavaria.

It’s also been reported that Diaz’s Bayern contract will include a Saudi sell-on, whereby Liverpool will receive some of the proceeds of an expected onward move to the Saudi Pro League in the upcoming seasons.

Diaz has been the subject of transfer interest from Al-Nassr this summer but at this stage of his career he would seemingly prefer a move to Europe.
