4 attackers Liverpool could sign this summer
Liverpool’s strike line could look very different next season. Mohamed Salah of course has been signed up until 2027 but it’s no exaggeration to say there are question marks over the majority of the Reds’ other forward options.
Let’s first assume Cody Gakpo is safe; when fully fit the Dutchman is Liverpool’s second-best attacker. He’s going nowhere.

But Federico Chiesa and Luis Diaz’s futures are under serious scrutiny albeit for very different reasons. And up top we could see Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez both shipped out to make way for upgrades.

Those exits would leave sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot with plenty of money to spend. And there are several names linked as potential incomings too.
There are a number of intriguing possibilities who could come in and improve the Reds’ attacking options.
Here we look at the contenders.
BRYAN MBEUMO - BRENTFORD
Brentford’s talisman has been one of the best-performing attackers in the Premier League this season and now looks set for the next step in his career.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in 2026 and the Bees could settle for ÂŁ50m to part with him this summer. Newcastle and Arsenal have been linked and the Reds have also been credited with strong interest.
Mbeumo’s primary position is right-wing and - like Salah - he loves cutting inside on his left foot. While he wouldn’t be expected to take over from Salah straight away, he could certainly provide relief when the 32-year-old requires rest.
And he can play different positions too - including up top and in behind the front man. Given the price - and the quality - this would qualify as the “opportunistic” type of transfer preferred by FSG.
MORGAN ROGERS - ASTON VILLA
Let’s hope this one grows legs.
Rogers, 22, has established himself as one of the best attackers around. He looks at home at the top end of the Premier League and in the latter stages of the Champions League too.
This season he’s managed 14 goals and 13 assists in all competitions - and is a fully-fledged England international too.
A multi-faceted threat, he could conceivably cover the positions occupied in the Liverpool line-up by Dominik Szoboszlai as well as the two wingers.
It’s been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Liverpool are being kept aware of Rogers’ Aston Villa situation amid speculation they might have to offload attackers.
While no move can be said to be imminent, if there’s half a chance of getting this done then Richard Hughes needs to be in the shakeup.
MOHAMMED KUDUS - WEST HAM
Now right off the bat, let’s say that on current form Mohammed Kudus is NOT worth his reported £85m release clause. But West Ham are now reported to be prepared to accept a lot less than that after washout season for the Ghanaian.
He’s only managed four Premier League goals but the quality is there. Indeed Liverpool’s players are said to be enamoured with the 24-year-old while assistant coach John Heitinga coached the attacker at Ajax.
Another who can cover practically every attacking position, he performed best when he moved from central midfield to centre-forward for the Amsterdam giants.
If Arne Slot can unlock his talents - like he has with so many Liverpool players - the Reds could have a bargain on their hands.
RODRYGO - REAL MADRID
This might all be agent talk but there is genuine concern around that Rodrygo will quit Real Madrid this summer if he can.
He was expected to be pushed to the margins by the arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer. But he's stuck around and still regularly appears in Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI.
The problem for the 24-year-old is that he was sacrificed when los Blancos needed a goal against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last week and he's not impressed.
Now it's been reported that Liverpool will revisit their interest in the Brazil international.
First linked back in 2019 when he was still at Santos, Liverpool missed out back then and Rodrygo has established himself as one of the world's best forwards at the Bernabeu.
He is versatile - capable of going down the outside on the right wing as well as featuring in a split front two.
Given his dribbling profile and right-footed tendencies, he can also play on the left wing.

The wages would be astronomical and there is always a danger in buying Real Madrid's discards. But at the right price this deal would be irresistible.
