Liverpool refuse to rule out CRAZY £70m transfer
Liverpool are refusing to give up on a truly crazy £70m transfer. Can Richard Hughes make it happen?
Liverpool will consider signing a centre-back this summer. They have little choice, really.

Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation is the big one. He’s entering the final year of his deal and talks with Liverpool aren’t going particularly well.
The Reds may be forced to sell this summer if they can’t agree new terms. That or risk losing him for free in 2026.
Liverpool would certainly need to replace Konate if he departs this summer but he might not even be the only one leaving. Both Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah could move on, with interest in both.
In fact, Virgil van Dijk is the only centre-back guaranteed to be at Liverpool next season. And at 33, the club need to think about his long-term replacement, too.
So that brings the Reds back around to possibly their craziest transfer of the summer. They’re refusing to give up on it.

Liverpool continue Jarrad Branthwaite pursuit
The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool continue to watch Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of a possible transfer. Branthwaite could leave Everton this summer as the Toffees look to boost their funds for a rebuild.
But that would mean convincing Everton to sell - something that is near enough impossible. Still, Liverpool must have some sort of belief that a deal could happen.
The last time Liverpool tried to sign a player from their local rivals didn’t go so well, however. It was essentially a non-starter.
We’d have thought this would be, too, but the reports have continued for a long time now. Naturally, Liverpool aren’t the only club hoping to snap him up, though.
Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea would all like Branthwaite. Liverpool would need to offer substantially more than all of them in order to get Everton to listen.
We imagine they’d rather take £60m from Bayern than £80m from Liverpool, for instance. That’s how unlikely this one is.

But maybe the Reds are happy to offer even more than that. It all depends on how highly they value Branthwaite - and how badly Everton need the money.
