Liverpool insider drops Curtis Jones hint as Spurs interest confirmed
Liverpool have got several contract issues to solve over the coming weeks and months.
In midfield the issues are particularly urgent - with new deals reportedly in the works for two key performers. The form of Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch warrants contract extensions and bumper pay rises - with the duo out of contract in 2028.
Sporting director Richard Hughes will be seeking to move as quickly as possible in order to secure his midfield duo to new terms.
There is also a question to answer over Alexis Mac Allister - who is also out of contract in 2028 but talk has been less intense around the Argentine.
Liverpool need to tie down Curtis Jones
Another Liverpool midfielder who might surely feel entitled to a new contract is Curtis Jones. The 24-year-old last extended his deal back in 2022 - with his current terms expiring in 2027.
Jones - now a fully-established England international - was a junior member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad when he signed his last contract.
He therefore won’t be making as much money as his midfield colleagues - and Liverpool will have to negotiate their next move very carefully with the homegrown talent.
As one of European football’s best passers Jones will feel entitled to a bigger pay packet - and he will be surely looking for guarantees over his playing time.

This season his importance to the side’s fortunes has indeed increased - but he has ONLY made 10 Premier League starts out of 22.
The Premier League champions were given a transfer warning over Jones last week when it was reported that Tottenham were keen to exploit his contract situation by making a bid for his services.
The London side ended up going for Conor Gallagher instead - but alarm bells should be ringing for Hughes and head coach Arne Slot over Jones’ future.
Trusted Liverpool source Paul Joyce writing in the Times has now confirmed Spurs’ interest was genuine - and also hinted that the boyhood Liverpool fan could end up seeking a move away.
Paul Joyce confirms Tottenham interest in Curtis Jones
“Will Curtis Jones, who had been attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, feel it is time to be more of a guaranteed starter somewhere?” the report reads.
By the end of the season Jones will have only one year left on his current deal. It would be Liverpool’s last chance to cash in on the playmaker if they don’t plan on securing him to a bumper new contract.
It would be a source of deep frustration for supporters to see their academy star move away for first-team football elsewhere.
But Slot and Hughes have got prior notice that if Jones doesn’t get the regular minutes his performances deserve then he could be ready to look elsewhere.
