Liverpool ready to receive irresistible €40m offer for contract rebel
Could this be the irresistible offer Liverpool were waiting for? The Reds are going to have to consider very carefully what to do about Ibrahima Konate.
The central defender, 26, is only contracted to Liverpool until summer 2026 - and right now his future is unknown.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has so far had no success in convincing Konate to sign a new deal - meaning he is free to talk to potentially interested overseas clubs as soon as January.

Real Madrid have got Konate in mind to lead the overhaul of their centre-back department - as both David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are expected to leave at the end of their contracts.
Could Liverpool sell Konate in January?
But there remains the possibility of Konate signing a new contract - although Liverpool would like an indication sooner rather than later over that.
Otherwise Hughes and head coach Arne Slot would do well to consider SELLING the France international in January.
Making as much money back as possible on the stopper would ensure they don’t suffer a financial loss on Konate - who joined from RB Leipzig back in 2021 for €35m.
Incredibly, it’s been suggested in the Spanish media that Real Madrid are about to make a €40m bid for Konate in an attempt to bring forward the deal to January.
Real Madrid prepared to pay €40m for Konate
“Madrid are going all out for Ibrahima Konaté, Liverpool's central defender whose contract expires in June 2026,” a report reads in E-Noticies.
“Konaté is still out of contract and Madrid are planning to offer 40 million euros in the upcoming winter transfer window.
“Liverpool could accept, especially because they do not want to let the Frenchman escape for free.”
Konate out, Guehi in?
This could potentially be a very attractive offer to Liverpool if Konate has got no intention of renewing - and the club could either go on with Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni as partners to Virgil van Dijk until the end of the season or else try to recruit Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Liverpool failed with a deadline day bid for the FA Cup winner - as his club pulled out of the deal at the last minute. He too is out of contract in 2026 - and Liverpool would ideally like to add him as a free transfer.
But the danger there is interest from other clubs is sure to materialise from European football’s biggest teams once Guehi is entitled to discuss a free transfer in January.
It might well go a long way towards securing Guehi if Liverpool can get a deal for the 25-year-old over the line in the new year - using the proceeds from Madrid’s bid for Konate.
