Liverpool now CLOSER to second €100m signing
Liverpool are moving into unprecedented territory as they line up a second €100m signing. Florian Wirtz then another...
Liverpool will close a deal for Florian Wirtz next week, with a potential €150m heading Bayer Leverkusen's way if add-ons are met. For starters, though, the German will cost around €117m.

That's Liverpool's record transfer and quite comfortably, too. The Reds feel they're signing one of the world's biggest talents and are willing to put the money up accordingly.
They've never actually made a signing this big before. It's unprecedented bringing in a player everyone wanted.
But this isn't a usual summer. Liverpool are Premier League champions but at the same time looking to make a statement by overhauling their squad.
That statement includes signing Wirtz, of course, but it won't stop there. It appears Liverpool are actually closing in on their second €100m signing.

Liverpool want Hugo Ekitike
Per Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have a great chance of landing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The German side want €100m for their star asset - but the Reds may put that cash up.
It can't happen immediately and Liverpool must make some sales. Plettenberg mentions Darwin Nunez as a major exit to facilitate the deal and that's one that continues to move closer.
La Repubblica suggests Liverpool are in talks with Napoli over a deal for Nunez and Federico Chiesa. Doing so would essentially free up the money, in both fees and wages, to sign Ekitike.
Everything is heading in the right direction, then. Liverpool appear to have pole position for Ekitike, with talk that Chelsea lead the race dying down significantly.
Really all that's missing is the money to make it happen but Liverpool are closing in on that money and thus closing in on Ekitike. We're not sure how quickly this one can truly move, given it relies on prior deals but it's all positive.

Liverpool do want a new striker this summer. That may well be Ekitike - and the club should have the funds to make it happen.
