£24m Liverpool star is fed up: He's willing to accept Atletico Madrid offer
Liverpool completed an initial £24m deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili in summer 2024.
The Georgian goalkeeper was then loaned back to Valencia for the 2024/25 season before commencing his Anfield career last summer. And it’s not really gone to plan for the 25-year-old.
He moved to Merseyside with the intention of becoming No1 but has been unable to dislodge Alisson Becker as first choice.
Mamardashvili is getting game time only due to Alisson’s injuries but it’s clear the 33-year-old will be handed the gloves whenever he’s fit.
Alisson’s contract was recently extended by one more year meaning Mamardashvili will be kicking his heels on the bench for another season at least.

Atletico Madrid want Mamardashvili
It’s led to speculation that the shot-stopper could be off in summer - at least on loan - in order to garner the minutes he believes he deserves.
According to Alex Silvestre on El Chiringuito de Jugones as relayed via Super Deporte Atletico Madrid are ready to make a proposal for the goalkeeper - with the future of Jan Oblak under scrutiny.
His recent injury troubles have led Atleti to seek alternatives in the market with director of football Mateu Alemany settling on the name of Mamardashvili.
The report cites the Liverpool player’s desire for first-team football - and working knowledge of LaLiga - as the chief motivations behind seeking a deal.

“In the shadow of Alisson Becker, his opportunities have been limited, a situation that has sparked his interest in seeking quality playing time elsewhere,” the report reads.
“His willingness to go out on loan for the 2026/27 season would facilitate a move that fits within the club's financial strategy.”
The report adds that several European teams are monitoring Mamardashvili closely.
Liverpool will be using him in goal for the next few weeks at least - and maybe longer - owing to Alisson’s latest injury.
The Brazilian will be out of action almost until the end of the season due to his latest hamstring injury - opening the door for Mamardashvili to once again assemble a run of games.
