Liverpool ready to INCREASE Florian Wirtz offer

Liverpool are reportedly ready to increase their offer for Florian Wirtz. There's now a new figure on the table.

Liverpool have been in discussions over Florian Wirtz for a little over a week now. The Reds hope to secure what should be their record transfer.

In fact, this will almost certainly be the English transfer record. It would be the first time they've done that since 1995.

But it's not proving easy. Leverkusen appear reluctant to budge from their €150m valuation, while Liverpool wanted to get it done closer to €130m.

Well, initially, they were hoping to agree a fee of barely over €100m. That certainly wasn't happening.

An update, however, suggests things are very close. A new offer is on the way and Liverpool are going to smash that record.

Liverpool to increase offer

Sky Germany reports that Liverpool are expected to make a new offer for Wirtz that seals the deal for at least €140m. It could actually approach the €150m figure, however.

Leverkusen likely know that the ball is in their court. Wirtz is such an in-demand player that Liverpool know this is their only chance - competition will be fierce next summer if they don't wrap this up now and they don't want to look less than eager to sign him.

Not to mention how bad it would look if the Reds went this far for Wirtz and then didn't actually meet the asking price. All expectations are that this deal will happen, though.

Liverpool must make another offer but it's on the way. The suggestion of an improved price is an interesting one, though.

We thought Liverpool may just make more of the money guaranteed. This was a sticking point in discussions as Leverkusen wanted as much as possible upfront with minimal add-ons.

The Reds wanted the opposite, naturally. It appears Liverpool are willing to find compromise in offering potentially more money for Wirtz but with similar add-ons. That's just speculation on our part but we find it difficult to believe Liverpool would raise the offer and guarantee more of it at this stage.
