Liverpool given BRILLIANT Florian Wirtz news they hoped for
Liverpool have received news that's brilliant for the Florian Wirtz deal. The Reds wanted this to happen.
Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Florian Wirtz and could wrap things up shortly. How mad is that?

The Reds weren't even considered to be in the race a couple of weeks ago. Now it appears they will actually sign Wirtz.
Bayern Munich have long been the expected club to grab Bayer Leverkusen's biggest talent. They've tracked him for a very, very long time and appear to have first dibs on every major Germany talent.
Then Manchester City entered the race and that made sense, too. Kevin De Bruyne is off this summer and they desperately need a replacement. Wirtz appeared to be perfect.
City dropped out of the race, however, with what felt like a statement released to the press. That left a sudden surge from Liverpool to rival Bayern.
Liverpool, though, now lead the race. And they've even had a bit of news that this one is over and done with.
Bayern Munich move on from Wirtz
Bayern were always going to be the strongest rivals for Wirtz. It's clear now, though, that they've completely moved on from the playmaker.
There have been a few rumours that they've got other targets on the mind but Florian Plettenberg is one of those reporting an interest in Cody Gakpo.
Now, that's an interest Liverpool themselves can quickly verify and in doing so, they've got the concrete proof that Bayern are out of the Wirtz race. Or as out of it as they can be.
No, Gakpo and Wirtz are not the same player. Bayern, however, always had an issue with where to play Wirtz given Jamal Musiala is their playmaker and no.10.
The plan was supposedly to play Wirtz and Musiala as sort of left-wingers/no.10 hybrids, with the pair swapping places on the pitch in games. Now it seems they'll just go out and sign a winger like Gakpo.
And in doing so, they turn their attention from Wirtz and admit defeat. This was, quite honestly, the biggest step to getting a deal over the line.

Liverpool were always willing to pay the money - it was just about winning the race. They've done just that and signing Wirtz is now a formality.
