Fabrizio Romano's latest Florian Wirtz update gets EVERYONE excited

Fabrizio Romano has dropped another Florian Wirtz update and it's a biggie. Liverpool are on the brink here.

Liverpool fans have been waiting for a solid update on Florian Wirtz for a couple of weeks now. The Reds forced their way to the front of the queue towards the end of May.

This was thought to be Bayern Munich's race to lose, though. Wirtz was considered to be a natural signing for them and one that everyone, including Bayern, thought would go through.

Manchester City offered a minor hiccup by inserting themselves into proceedings. They're after a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne and Wirtz fits the bill perfectly.

Only, both clubs are now completely out of the running. Liverpool are pushing forward on Wirtz after the playmaker picked them as his next club.

And now Fabrizio Romano has dropped the update we've been waiting for.

Florian Wirtz is close

Romano understands that Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are incredibly close on a deal. It's fully expected to go through and there's a plan in place to seal things.

"Liverpool are advancing to complete Wirtz deal in next days, here we go soon," writes Romano on Twitter.

"Negotiations at final stages with details being sorted then Wirtz will travel for medical, plan confirmed."

This will be a massive one for Liverpool, who are destined to shatter their transfer record with this deal. In fact, they'll shatter the English transfer record with it - something they haven't done since 1995.

But you don't often get opportunities to sign players like Wirtz. He's one of the biggest talents in world football and he's actually chosen Liverpool.
