'Elite' midfielder is EVERYTHING Liverpool need and more

Last summer, the Reds announced themselves on the global stage as a football club that is willing to do whatever it takes to get the players they desire most. FSG's financial barriers were scrapped.

A hell of a lot of trust was placed in Michael Edwards, Richard Hughes and the rest of the executive structure to make sure the right players were bought using the vast budget that John Henry has afforded them to spend, and it was universally agreed that Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak were two of the best players available on the market. They're now both Reds, and it's incredibly exciting.

Each of their starts to life on Merseyside have been polarising, with fans left waiting for them to reach the performance levels they were regularly delivering for their former clubs, but the talent is there, and once things click, Liverpool are destined to be one of the most electric teams in Europe.

While the Swedish striker is 26 years old, approaching his prime, the German playmaker is a mere 22 years old, meaning we could see him spend most of his career at Liverpool - a tantalising prospect.

However, there is another young player who promises to be a world beater if he's given the opportunity to shine on the big stage for as long as possible. He's already playing at an outstandingly high level in the Premier League, and it's only a matter of time until someone snaps him up.

Anderson is destined for the top

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is a name that holds a lot of weight nowadays.

After featuring for less than 2000 minutes in the first team for Newcastle across three seasons, the 23-year-old English star moved south and has been a revelation in the East Midlands, playing a vital role under Nuno Espírito Santo last season, and now shining under the management of Sean Dyche.

He's been a regular in the Premier League, and he's taken the Europa League in his stride, as if it's just another competition - even though he's never played in Europe before. His confidence and general assurance on the ball has led to him being called up by Thomas Tuchel to play for England.

The partnership he's developed with Declan Rice is likely to be a cornerstone for the national team when the World Cup takes place next summer. He's been described as 'elite' by the German coach.

Speaking in November, he said: "Anderson is a key player for us at the moment. He is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League - that's why he is with us and starting for us.

"He deserves it because he has been nothing but impressive. He has to keep on going on now. He is a very complete and mobile midfielder, and that's what he keeps showing me.

"He is an elite player with the right attitude and a lot of talent. He is fulfilling his role in the best way possible, so we are very happy for him."

In his most recent performance for Nottingham Forest, a 2-0 home defeat to Brighton, Anderson stood up above his teammates and demonstrated beyond all doubt that he is an all-round genius.

He created six chances, made six accurate crosses from 13 attempts, made four accurate long-balls from seven attempts, had 107 touches on the ball, made six successful dribbles from seven attempts, won both of his two tackles, put in two interceptions, made 13 recoveries, and won 12 of his 17 duels.

Those efforts represent an incredibly rare performance in Premier League history, dominating in all of the different facets of the game, without getting a goal contribution. A magnificent performance.

It's feasible that he could play as a defensive No. 6, a workhorse No. 8, or an attacking No. 10, excelling in whichever position he was deployed in. That's something very few players can do.

And the best part of it all is that the Daily Mail have noted Liverpool as one of the clubs interested in signing him, which is incredibly exciting, since we know that FSG aren't afraid to splash the cash on occasion. The current price tag is noted at between £80-100m, which might prove challenging in the short-term given the recent expenditure, but Anderson is not someone you want to miss out on.

Recent evidence suggests that he's the real deal, and the longer he proves himself for, the more difficult it's going to be to get his signature. If the opportunity arises, Liverpool have to go for him.
