€80m GAMECHANGER is coming to Liverpool
Liverpool are in the midst of a poor run; of that there is no question.
Arne Slot’s side have LOST their last four games in succession - the first time that has happened in more than a decade.
Spending £450m improving the squad that won the 2024/25 Premier League title has yet to pay dividends. Sporting director Richard Hughes broke the British transfer record twice - for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak - but neither has yet caught his best form.
Other signings - such as Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong - look like square pegs in round holes at the minute. Giovanni Leoni has been injured while Giorgi Mamardashvili has experienced a baptism of fire in goal.
Arguably the only sure-fire hit to this point has been Hugo Ekitike - who has had to settle for a place among the substitutes while Isak is trusted to start.
Could Camavinga be signed?
So how might Liverpool snap themselves out of this crisis?
Well one option is to improve the side further in January. With plenty of money spent elsewhere on the squad during summer, we may see the club move for a game-changing midfielder in winter.
Ryan Gravenberch has been struggling with injuries over the past fortnight, Alexis Mac Allister looks a shadow of himself and Dominik Szoboszlai has been used as a problem-solver all over the pitch.
Adding a world-class performer to the mix might help improve the middle third and also reduce the burden on Gravenberch in particular.
To that end we COULD see a move for Real Madrid superstar Eduardo Camavinga.
€80m Camavinga falls down Madrid pecking order
The 22-year-old, contracted until 2029, has slipped down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso and he has been unable to gain as many starts as he would have liked.
Even in his auxiliary position of left-back, the France international has been forced out by the signing of Alvaro Carreras. Accordingly Liverpool have been put on red alert according to a new report in Fichajes.
“Xabi Alonso's arrival as manager has relegated the French midfielder to a secondary role, which has set off alarm bells at Liverpool,” a report reads.
“The English club is reportedly preparing a massive offer, close to 80 million euros, to sign him in the upcoming winter transfer window and bolster their midfield with youth and potential.
“Eduardo Camavinga fits the profile they're looking for: dynamic, versatile, capable of playing as a central midfielder, an inside midfielder, or even a left-back, making him attractive to the Reds' system.”
Camavinga joined Real Madrid from the renowned Rennes academy back in 2021 - going on to win two Champions League titles and two LaLigas in his time at the club.
Madrid could be open to offers for the France World Cup finalist - who is behind the likes of Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni in the midfield order.
