ANOTHER contract rebel could join Liverpool after preseason no-show
Liverpool are currently busy trying to get a deal done for Alexander Isak. The Swede could well end up costing a British record fee- just a few short weeks after the Reds set the record with their deal for Florian Wirtz.
The German has been the headline arrival of an incredible summer transfer spree - which also includes Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
But Isak could be the crowing glory - one of the world’s best No9s right at the top of his game. Liverpool’s attack and defence has had a refit but links to midfielders have been relatively thin on the ground in comparison.

Anfieldwatch has detailed interest in Mikel Jauregizar, Nico Gonzalez and Samuel Ricci this year but all have either agreed new contracts or else signed elsewhere.
Douglas Luiz among Liverpool-linked midfielders
In recent days links have emerged with Andre of Wolves as a potential partner or back-up to Ryan Gravenberch in the No6 position.
And now another intriguing new link has emerged with a very familiar name.
Douglas Luiz was tipped to join Liverpool last summer from Aston Villa but ended up joining Juventus instead.
It’s been a shocking first year in Turin for the Brazil international - widely criticised for a lack of consistency and suggested as a potential departure after only one season.
Douglas Luiz goes AWOL
The 27-year-old has now FAILED to report for preseason training with the Bianconeri on Thursday - taking what has been reported as an unauthorised absence.
Luiz going AWOL has only served to fuel speculation that he is set for a hasty exit from Juventus and Gazzetta dello Sport is now claiming that Liverpool have been in touch.
“Douglas Luiz is now at odds with Juventus,” the report reads.
“While we wait to see what measures Juventus will take regarding the Brazilian, it now seems clear that his time in Turin is set to end by the end of August.
“West Ham, Everton, and Liverpool had been interested in him in recent weeks, but the Bianconeri, to avoid a capital loss, are expected to sell him for around €40 million.”

That would be a sizeable discount on the €50m plus add-ons that Juve paid to Villa just last year. It remains to be seen whether Richard Hughes follows through on his reported interest in Luiz or if he leaves the midfield as it is through this summer.
