Liverpool make decision over Trent Alexander-Arnold RETURN

Trent Alexander-Arnold is experiencing a nightmare first season at Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old completed a £10m deal to join the Bernabeu giants last summer - one month before his Liverpool contract was due to end.

Madrid wanted him on board for the FIFA Club World Cup under new head coach Xabi Alonso and were willing to pay a premium to get a deal done.

Alexander-Arnold was missing from the lineup which lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals - prompting Madrid media to ponder whether they had signed a crock for right-back.

The England international started the season as first-choice but quickly fell out of favour when Dani Carvajal came back to full fitness.

Then he was hit with ANOTHER injury in September - ruling him out for around two months of action.

And following a tentative return he was injured yet again in a league game versus Athletic Club in December and he remains on the sidelines.

Reports have begun to emerge suggesting that the 15-time European champions are now ready to move on from Trent - with Wesley of Roma and Bournemouth’s Alex Jimenez under consideration.

And the former Liverpool academy player is also thought to be fed up - with reports hinting at broken promises and disappointment following Alonso’s sacking.

Momentum has gathered around a potential return to English football - with Newcastle and Manchester City both linked with a £35m deal.

But what about Liverpool?

Liverpool don't want Trent deal

Right now according to a report in TEAMtalk a comeback is not currently on the cards.

Liverpool are more than happy with Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong as their right-back options and have no plans to re-sign Alexander-Arnold in summer if he becomes available.

The finances of this deal would not make sense for Liverpool. Now earning close to £300k per week according to reports Trent is making a lot more than his last contract at the Premier League champions.

Given he is under contract until 2031 you can expect Madrid would demand a big transfer fee too in order to release him.

Then you have to consider his recent fitness record - missing on multiple occasions for Madrid and for Liverpool across his final couple of seasons.

It looks like Trent is going to have to look elsewhere for his next club if Madrid decide to cut him loose.

But first he will be hoping to break back into Alvaro Arbeloa’s team on a regular basis and make his current club forget all about signing a replacement.
