With first choice targets available on the market already, negotiations are already taking place.

Jeremie Frimpong, for example, has been given the 'Here We go' from Fabrizio Romano for a €35m move from Leverkusen, to support Conor Bradley in replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

But another full-back is also targeted for a move, and an update on his circumstances is not far away.

Ornstein offers Liverpool update on Kerkez

Speaking to NBC Sports, the Athletic's ever-reliable journalist David Ornstein gave the Reds an update on the club's pursuit of bringing Milos Kerkez to Liverpool from Bournemouth this summer.

He said: "Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth, the left-back [that's been] heavily linked with Liverpool, I think we could see that ramp up in the coming days."

The Premier League season is only just set to conclude on Sunday evening, and so the club must literally just be waiting for a more optimal time to speak to Bournemouth to making a formal move.

However, Fabrizio Romano offered a similar update this morning. He said: "Understand negotiations between Liverpool and Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez remain underway.

"Liverpool remain favourites to sign the Hungarian left-back as talks continue well - could be done soon. Kerkez remains very keen on the move, personal terms are not an issue."

In order to make way for the left-back, Kostas Tsimikas or Andy Robertson are likely to move on, and it is the Greek international who is probably favoured more for the departure.

Robertson, for all his mistakes this season, is the more senior player with far greater leadership skills for the team to rely on and Kerkez's transition into the side might be facilitated that bit easier if the Scottish captain is available as a stop-gap that Liverpool can rely on when necessary.

Alongside the inevitable transfer of Frimpong, we might also find negotiations for Florian Wirtz being wrapped up next week alongside Kerkez, with plenty of the recruitment work finalised.

As such, we might just be a week away from three new players joining the Reds for next season, and the club will still have plenty different pieces of transfer business negotiate beyond those.
