Liverpool took the opportunity to freshen up their strike line in last summer’s record-breaking transfer window.

Deals were done for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak - both British record fees - as well as Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike. But the start of the season has shown that more additions could be required before Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are satisfied.

Mo Salah hasn’t been in the greatest form of his life - while Cody Gakpo on the other side could be changed out for a better option.

Moreover the problems at right-back mean that Dominik Szoboszlai has been asked to fill in there - with the Reds losing a No10 as a result.

Liverpool interested in Kenan Yildiz

Therefore a deal could be done for a versatile attacker - and Kenan Yildiz is all of a sudden back on the radar.

Yildiz, 20, is currently engaged in contract talks with Juventus and things have not been straightforward for the Italian record champions.

The Turkish international is reported by TEAMtalk to be making around £25k per week - small change compared to the wages of his senior teammates.

LFC can pounce on failed Yildiz talks

And so far the Turin side have been unable to meet the playmaker’s demands - giving an opportunity to interested sides like Liverpool to slide in for a deal.

Yildiz is under contract at Juve until 2029 - having joined in the club back in 2023 from Bayern Munich’s youth ranks. His rise has been stratospheric over the last couple of seasons - and right now he looks like being Juve’s most valuable player.

This season he has got two goals and three assists in 10 Serie A outings and has also been in great form for Turkey in FIFA World Cup qualification.

Accordingly a bid of around €90m could convince the Old Lady of Italian football to sell up - amid stalling contract talks.

Liverpool watching Yildiz talks closely

“Yildiz’s future in Turin is in major doubt, with contract talks stalling,” a report reads. “A host of clubs are being linked.

“It will likely take a €90million (£79m / $104m) bid to prise the 20-year-old away from Juve.

“Yildiz wants a bumper new contract to reward his status as a key first-team player, as he is currently on £25,000 a week – far less than most of his team-mates.

“So far, Juve have yet to meet his wage demands, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all watching the situation closely.”

Yildiz is most at home on the left wing - and he likes to cut inside for a shot at goal with his right foot. He can also play No10 as well as part of a front two with an out-and-out striker such as Dusan Vlahovic.
