Liverpool transfer news: Club director confirms previous agreement for Dominik Szoboszlai
An agreement had been struck to sign Dominik Szoboszlai according a former Italian club director.
The Hungarian has been a lynchpin in Arne Slot's side this season. He's also achieved a historic record becoming the first ever player from his country to win the Premier League.

Szoboszlai has been brilliant all season. He's provided the second most assists (8) for Liverpool behind Mohamed Salah, he's stepped up in key moments to score goals and he's work off the ball has made his teammates around him tick.
The selfless attitude he has shown combined with his creativity has made Szoboszlai the unsung hero of the season. And he's only just getting started. He's still relatively young and bound to improve even more.
It's scary to think that had been for a turn of events, Szoboszlai may not have ended up at Liverpool.
That's according to AC Milan's former sporting director, who revealed that while the Hungarian was playing for Red Bull Salzburg he almost ended up signing for the Italian club.

Former AC Milan Chief Football Officer's Zvonimir Boban speaking to Calciomercato confirmed that his side had everything agreed with Red Bull Salzburg for the exciting Hungarian talent at the time.
“We could have also have taken Szoboszlai, everything was agreed: €20m of the clause with Salzburg,” Boban said.
At the time, Szoboszlai had just caught the attention of the world with his performances for Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga and in the Champions League.
He looked like the next superstar from an exciting generation of Salzburg players.
But a move fell through according to Boban because the club's hierarchy objected to it.
"There too they denied and I said to myself: 'What the hell is this?'" Boban said.
Milan of course famously fumbled another Hungarian superstar who could be heading to Liverpool this summer.
Milos Kerkez was on the books at the Italian club before they agreed to sell him to AZ Alkmaar and the rest is history, with the youngster now establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe at Bournemouth and attracting the attention of the rest of the world.
Considering the agreement must have been around the same time as Kerkez joined AC Milan, the duo could have even become teammates at the Italian club.
Ironically, it's at Liverpool where they could unite their talents now.
Understandably, we are delighted that a move never came to fruition for Szoboszlai. Liverpool have benefitted hugely from his arrival and it's difficult to imagine Slot's side without him - that's how important of a player he has become.
Next season, we expect him to take on even more of a leadership role given he looks like he's really settled at Anfield now.
Hopefully, Kerkez can follow in his footsteps and join him this summer in order to fill an important void at full-back.

If he does, they'll be kicking themselves at AC Milan for letting another Hungarian talent slip through their grasp.
