Arne Slot gets WARNING over Liverpool forward

It’s been a frustrating season yet again for Federico Chiesa.

The 28-year-old attacker simply cannot earn a starting place in the Premier League under Arne Slot.

The Liverpool head coach has restricted the winger to 10 substitute appearances in the top flight - despite Chiesa being impressive every time he’s had a cameo.

The Italian forward has scored twice in the top flight and added another assist.

Roma want January deal for Chiesa

And on Wednesday night he helped Liverpool preserve a point with an incredible goalline clearance against Sunderland.

Given his lack of action it has been suggested that the former Serie A would seek a move back to Italy in January. There is no shortage of interest in the Italy international - with AC Milan and Inter thought to be leading the chase for his signature.

But now it’s emerged in Il Tempo that Roma have sent an inquiry Liverpool’s way as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side plot a route to the Serie A title.

“As Il Tempo reports, Massara has made inquiries about the former Juventus player's intentions and the Reds' demands,” a report in Siamo La Roma reads.

“The striker, who hasn't found much playing time so far, currently prefers to stay at Liverpool, but that could change between now and January.”

Slot has been warned therefore. Either use Chiesa or risk losing him with Roma ready with an initial loan offer that could include an option to buy.

And he’s got a golden opportunity to do so with Mo Salah about to embark on a potentially month-long stay at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Chiesa signed for the Reds back in September 2024 from Juventus for a fee of around £12m.

He took his time to get to grips with life in the Premier League - being frequently injured or unavailable - but has certainly won over the Liverpool public with his effort and enthusiasm.

Under contract until 2028 - and reportedly making £120k per week - Chiesa should be given the opportunity to prove he can be a difference maker in a struggling Liverpool side.
