Jurgen Klopp's loveable character as a father figure to some of the players was the they for most of the last decade. He knew how the team could succeed in a sporting sense, but his general character was endearing and players actively wanted to played under him.

The move to Arne Slot as Liverpool's head coach changed things a little, but despite the Dutchman taking slightly different approach, it is clear that the Reds still have elite 'pull' in the transfer market.

How Arne Slot got the players on board with summer moves

The club's Premier League winning season will no doubt have helped in terms of showcasing the ambition of the Reds, but establishing a connection with transfer targets is still necessary.

In a report for Mail Sport, Lewis Steele has revealed the main tactic that Slot uses to help make players feel comfortable with the idea of joining Liverpool, knowing they're making the right move.

He said: "[Arne] Slot is Mr Meticulous. I think the level of detail all top-level managers go into would shock most casual fans but Slot definitely goes above and beyond in this regard.

"For example, when selling a pitch to a player to join his club, Slot has been said to show them big dossiers with what he knows about them and, most importantly, how the star could improve under the Dutchman's leadership.

"Slot will probably have done this with the likes of Jeremie Frimpong and [Florian] Wirtz... it is an indication into why he is in the elite bracket of bosses."

As such, while Liverpool often look extremely well drilled on the pitch, because Slot has worked out a tactical plan to outplay the opposition prior to a match, it seems as though a serious amount of work also takes place behind the scenes with the players at the club and the transfer targets he wants.

Playing in a new environment with a healthier salary is all well and good, but most players have an understanding of their ability and how complete an asset they are. Deep down, they want to be the best they can be and working with the right people who can help them achieve that is paramount.

Slot's vision for Liverpool is deliver further success to the history of the club and the players have all made that same commitment by joining the Reds. They believe in the philosophy he is preaching.

As such, Florian Wirtz's likely move to Merseyside will have been down to a lot more than just the size of the club and the success we're delivering. Tactically, the German will help the team step up a level and the player will fundamentally believe that we can improve his game as well.
