Liverpool are facing significant disruption in the midfield sector.

The Reds could end up LOSING Curtis Jones in the next transfer window. With the homegrown 24-year-old’s contract expiring in 2027 Richard Hughes may be forced to consider a sale if no new deal is agreed.

Then there are the contract situations around Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch. Reports indicate that the duo are the next biggest contract priorities for sporting director Hughes but there has been no white smoke around Anfield thus far.

Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are both under contract until 2028 - but it looks like the Premier League champions are determined to get them tied down longer term.

Well there are signs that it may be the Argentina World Cup winner who may be pushed out in order to make way for new signings.

He too is under contract until 2028. But rather than discussing a new contract Liverpool would instead prefer to offload their No10.

According to a report in Fichajes an offer of around £69m from Paris Saint-Germain could do the trick.

With players like Kees Smit and Adam Wharton waiting in the wings a sizeable return on Mac Allister could free up plenty of money to get new signings in as well as furnish new contracts for others.

“It is estimated that Alexis Mac Allister's transfer could be completed for a fee close to €80 million,” the report reads.

Mac Allister wants to work with Luis Enrique

“The Argentine's departure would allow the English club to finally pursue the signing of the promising young player Adam Wharton.”

Mac Allister was a key part of the 2024/25 Premier League title win but his form has tailed off over the last year or so. The midfielder has not been at his consistent best this season - and is no longer a nailed-on starter when everyone is fit.

He makes around £150k per week on Merseyside - and given his experience and pedigree he would surely ask for more than that in a renewal.

It’s understandable that the Reds would be currently reluctant to give in to those demands - meaning a parting of the ways could be imminent.

Moreover the report concludes that Mac Allister would be happy to move to PSG - citing a desire to work with Luis Enrique as a motivating factor.

“The prospect of playing under the Asturian coach is a significant draw for the Argentine player,” the report reads.

Macca joined Liverpool back in 2023 from Brighton for a bargain £35m.

It may well go down as one of the best signings in the club’s recent history. But right now given his form and uncertain contract situations we could be living the last days of Mac Allister as a Liverpool player.
