Liverpool teenage sensation could now LEAVE in January
An exciting young midfielder could now leave in the January transfer window.
One area where Arne Slot can be criticised is the way he has failed to integrate Liverpool's young talent into the first-team. Unlike his predecessor in Jurgen Klopp, Slot is a lot more rigid in his rotation and far less likely to throw young players into the team.
This has brought home a Premier League title for the Reds but it has also stagnated the development of numerous young talents at the club.
It's also made Liverpool a less attractive place for the next generation of young players coming through the ranks. The next Rio Ngumoha for example, may not want to join a club where his pathway into the first-team won't be guaranteed.
Ngumoha is actually an example where Slot has at least shown some willingness to change his tact but the youngster has still been used quite sparsely so far this season.
Another highly rated teenage sensation is Trey Nyoni. He arrived at Anfield under Klopp's tenure with a lot of hype and he's impressed in two pre-seasons with Slot's first-team.
Yet very few opportunities have come his way in the regular season.
Ultimately, he's stagnated a little bit in his development. Nyoni has been playing for the U21s and the U19s at Liverpool but he's outgrown that environment.
Having been training regularly with the first-team it's clear that he's ready for adult football. Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem like Liverpool is the best place for him right now.
So, the club are now reportedly assessing their options.
According to The Athletic Liverpool would be open to a suitable loan move for Nyoni and they are willing to listen to offers for him.
There's going to be a number of clubs interested in his services both in England and abroad.
Nyoni has recently caught the eye for England's U19 national team, helping them qualify for the Elite round of European Championship qualification.
What the best next move for him will be remains to be seen. Liverpool haven't really had successful loan spells in the last few years. This season a lot of loan players are struggling for game time.
Last season, the likes of Kaide Gordon and Calvin Ramsay stunted their development by going on loan to clubs who simply weren't willing to give them an opportunity.
Liverpool have brought in a new loan manager since then, so the goal will be for the club to find the right environment for Nyoni. He will need to go on loan to a club that play possession-based football and who value Nyoni's strongest assets, which are his technical qualities and his reading of the game.
