Liverpool could still do with adding a few new faces to their ranks before the winter transfer window slams shut.

Their defensive injury crisis has thrown a massive spanner into the works with the club only having one natural right-back among their ranks in Calvin Ramsay.

Of course, others such as Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai are likely to be started there in Jeremie Frimpong's absence but, realistically, neither of them are ideal options.

The Reds' midfield could also do with a fresh pair of legs or two being brought in, especially if they're wanting to try and win both the Champions League and FA Cup.

Several names have been thrown into the ring since the winter transfer window opened and now, it seems like the Anfield outfit have a fair bit of competition on their hands for the transfer of one of their targets.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl chooses his next club amid Liverpool interest

As mentioned, due to Liverpool's poor form, several players have been brought up as potential transfer targets.

The most frequently mentioned of the bunch is Adam Wharton with the Crystal Palace midfielder attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga is another name which has been linked with an Anfield switch but at the moment, these seem to just be rumours.

However, links with Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl have recently emerged, and, since he's only 20 years old and would be available for a cut-rate fee, a deal could be on for the Norweigian.

Liverpool's interest in the 20-year-old has been documented for some time but, taking to his personal X account, journalist Marco Conterio has shared an update on where the future of the midfielder could lie.

"Half of Europe on Jens Hjerto-Dahl: but the Norwegian talent only wants Besiktas," he wrote.

"As anticipated, the Norwegian gem Jens Hjertø-Dahl is one of the most sought-after players on the European market but he only wants Besiktas.

"The 2005 Norwegian has a long queue, Bournemouth even made a bigger offer than the Turks to Tromsø but Hjerto-Dahl only wants Besiktas, also because of the huge affection he has received from the fans in the last few hours.

"Lazio, Glasgow Rangers, Union Berlin, in the Premier League also Liverpool and Everton and not only the teams that have emerged just in the last few hours on the player besides the Cherries.

"The Norwegian has put everything on hold because he is only waiting for the final details of the Tromsø-Besiktas agreement."

Liverpool need to start getting some transfers over the line

Throughout the entirety of the winter transfer window, Liverpool's fans have demanded that they add some new players to their ranks.

Of course, the Reds' massive summer of spending will have caused them a few monetary issues regarding deals, but, the fact that Hjerto-Dahl would be available for around €7 million (£6 million) means that a deal for the Norwegian wonderkid wouldn't break the bank.

It would also give the Reds another option for the centre of the park and perhaps lift some weight from the shoulders of Ryan Gravenberch.

It's clear that most of Liverpool's new signings were brought in to prepare for the future with Alexander Isak being the oldest of the bunch at 26.

There's a lot more that could come from the Anfield outfit, but, if they don't bring in some new players before the window slams shut, they could find themselves in an awful lot of trouble.
