Liverpool striker now just WEEKS away from return

Liverpool have received a boost with reports that their striker will be back in just a few weeks. A much-needed one.

Liverpool suffered a blow this weekend. Yes, they earned three points against Tottenham Hotspur but it came at a cost as Alexander Isak went off with a bad injury.

The Swede didn't even start the fixture and only got involved as a half-time substitute. Isak then opened the scoring with a well-taken finish from Florian Wirtz's through-ball - precisely the kind of goal Liverpool paid all that money for in the summer.

But it was in scoring that goal that Isak picked up his injury. He's now suffered a potential broken leg - or at least, that's the great fear at Liverpool right now.

What a blow that is, then. The Reds spent Β£130m on Isak in the summer and have gotten just 504 Premier League minutes out of him before the (probably) end of his season.

It's one that doesn't just rob Liverpool of a star player but also leaves them short in options up top. That problem may have a quick fix, however.

Jayden Danns to return

Back when Liverpool weren't sure they'd sign Isak, they made a decision not to loan out Jayden Danns. They'd instead hold onto the academy product as a backup striker behind Hugo Ekitike.

Of course, Isak arrived right at the end of the transfer window and that put Danns in a difficult spot. Too late to get a loan deal somewhere, he was now a distant third choice.

Even worse, he picked up an injury that's sidelined the striker for a couple of months. However, the Guardian now reports that Danns should return in January to fill the void left by Isak.

Danns is nowhere near as experienced and proven a striker as the Swede. No one can argue that. But he is a solid backup option as Ekitike holds onto the mantle as the main man.

That, after all, was the plan heading into the season before Newcastle United signed Nick Woltemade and were willing to sell Isak. Liverpool will be able to revert to it next month.

And perhaps it's the making of Danns! If he gets games, this could be a genuine breakthrough for him and one that significantly strengths the Liverpool squad.
