Liverpool rocked as summer striker signing suffers injury blow
Liverpool signed a lot of attacking players this summer and it's been imperative that their fitness is managed well so that no unnecessary injuries occur during the start of the new season.
Hugo Ekitike was part of most of the pre-season tour, meaning he's been up to speed with the play style of Arne Slot's side from the start. He's kicked on and so far has three goals and one assist.

Meanwhile, deadline day signing Alexander Isak only managed to make his debut last night against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and even then, he only got 58 minutes as Slot attempts to ease him into the set-up without risking a similar fate to Isak's replacement over at Newcastle.

However, one player that might have gone under the radar is Will Wright, who is a teenage prodigy that joined from Salford in a huge coup for the club. His imminent future is now a major concern.
Tough blow after Wright knee injury
In a fixture for the U19s team against Atletico Madrid in the Youth League, the English striker was taken off on a stretcher after just 12 minutes, clutching his knee in a really concerning incident.
According to Ian Doyle at the Liverpool ECHO, the striker 'jarred' his knee in a challenge, which is an injury that is likely to result in a 'lengthy' course of treatment, although surgery might not be required.
Straight away the assumption with these types of injuries is that an ACL tear has occurred, which would ordinarily keep a player out for nine months or so. There is no evidence of that right now.
However, the 17-year-old has certainly suffered a setback after playing in all five of the opening matches this season and he might have been earmarked for a senior start in the Reds' Carabao Cup tie against Southampton at Anfield next week had he have been available.
During his time at Salford, he scored 50 goals across the different youth levels and upon joining Liverpool, he's been able to compete regularly with Jayden Danns for minutes. Both players will feel they can work in tandem to provide depth for the first-team behind Isak and Ekitike.
In time, Wright will be able to return to full fitness and continue doing just that once he's fully recover from the knee issue. He's an extremely talented player that Liverpool are delighted to have in their ranks, especially since Manchester City and Arsenal rivalled the Reds for his signing in the summer.
We wish him well in his rehabilitation over the next few weeks and months.
