Liverpool risk losing key man to rivals in 'HUGE' deal
Liverpool's personnel has changed quite a lot behind the scenes over the last six months.
We've seen scouts move on to different clubs, Arne Slot's assistant Johnny Hietinga received an offer from Ajax what was too good to ignore, and goalkeeping coaches Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel before moved elsewhere, forcing the club to replace them over the summer.
A lot of the attention has gone to Liverpool's player recruitment, but it's not just been in that department where things have changed. It's hard to quantify whether the Reds have felt the impact of such changes, but there will come a point when we're officially considered to be 'in transition'.
Unfortunately, the staff turnover might not have finished quite yet, with a new report claiming that one of the club's biggest rivals eyeing a move for one of the key men in the Liverpool hierarchy.
Everton working on academy chief deal
According to Football Insider, the Blues are hoping to lure Alex Inglethorpe, Liverpool's Academy Director, to the other side of the city in a move to bolster their leadership structure.
The report claims that this would be considered a 'huge coup' if Everton can pull off a deal and with the highly-regarded executive, although the rivalry between the clubs is set to complicate the move.
While it might seem like quite an ambitious approach, we've already seen Everton swoop in to sign Nick Cox from Manchester United to become their new technical director, while James Smith joined from Manchester City, charged with overseeing the scouting and recruitment work.
As such, Liverpool have a major threat to deal with if they want to keep Inglethorpe moving forward.
The Reds' academy is now a phenomenal resource for Arne Slot to call upon, whenever he's looking to bolster the first team. Youngsters Rio Ngmumoha and Trey Nyoni are senior regulars this season.
Furthermore, the youth teams at the U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels need proper supervision and their successes have in part been down to Inglethorpe's work. Losing a person which his knowledge and expertise from the club would be a significant blow, especially if it's Everton who snap him up.
The 53-year-old joined the Reds in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur as the U21s coach, before later taking up a more advanced role, overseeing the redevelopment of Kirkby. His departure would bring to an end a 13-year stay with the club, and his absence would be felt across the club's operations.
With any luck, he's not going anywhere, but the Reds won't find it easy to battle off the competition.
