Liverpool receive shock BOOST in battle for Mo Salah replacement

Liverpool are facing one of the toughest periods in their recent history, but things could be looking up for the champions of England.

Arne Slot’s side have only managed three victories in their last 10 matches in all competitions, suffering nine defeats in 15 matches.

That dreadful form has led to the Dutchman making some drastic changes to his team, most notably leaving Mohamed Salah on the bench for three games and out of the squad completely for Tuesday's clash against Inter Milan.

This has led to one of the biggest fallouts between a player and manager in the club’s history, with the Egyptian King making his anger public after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds.

Salah’s relationship with Slot now looks broken beyond repair, but the Reds may already have the upper hand when it comes to replacing the Premier League golden boot winner.

Antoine Semenyo wants Liverpool

One of the league’s stand out forwards this season has been Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and links have persisted between Liverpool and the 25-year-old all season.

The winger, who has already recorded six goals and three assists for the Cherries this campaign, could be the ideal Salah replacement at Anfield and it looks like the move could be on.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool is Semenyo’s preferred destination should he leave Bournemouth despite the club’s awful current form.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all named as interested parties, but the Ghana international’s first choice remains Liverpool.

A release clause of just £65 million as well as Smenyo’s fine start to the season has seen the forward become one of the league’s most in-demand players.

Can Semenyo fill Mo Salah’s boots at Anfield?

The task of trying to replace Salah, one of Liverpool’s best ever players, isn’t an enviable one. Richard Hughes will have a tough job on his hands.

There are a number of options that the Reds could explore, including RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but Semenyo represents an affordable option with Premier League experience.

Although the Bournemouth forward has played the majority of his games on the left wing this season, he has also been deployed on the right on numerous occasions and would prove a versatile addition to Slot’s forward line.

If Salah’s time with Liverpool is truly finished, Semenyo is as good an option as any to come in and try and save the Reds’ season and potentially Slot’s job.

Semenyo to Liverpool isn’t certain yet, but if the forward has his heart set on a move to Merseyside it feels like it is only a matter of time until he arrives at Anfield.
