Liverpool are continuing to make plans to bring in reinforcements.

Richard Hughes is not a man who does his job idly. He's a man of action, who gets in the thick of it and when it matters, he gets things done.

He delivered on multiple fronts over the course of the summer getting the most important deals over the line for Liverpool. From Alexander Isak to Florian Wirtz, it has been a very impressive summer by the club's sporting director.

But even though the transfer window is now shut, Hughes is not sitting back down on the sofa and drinking pina coladas - he's out there plotting moves and assessing ways to make this Liverpool team even better.

Right now it feels like one area where Liverpool could do with more reinforcements is in the middle of the park.

Even though Arne Slot has a lot of options, he is still missing a truly progressive passer of the ball. Someone who can get the ball to the likes of Wirtz and Mo Salah in the way Trent Alexander-Arnold was able to.

Liverpool need a player like that in order to complete the team and make sure they are successful in their build-up. At this moment in time it's the build-up where a lot of the team's shortcomings have come having suffered three defeats in a row before the October international break.

If Slot can get that right, then Liverpool will be a much better team.

Of course, he can get it right with the players he has at his disposal. However, what might make it even easier is if Liverpool brought in a player who specialises in the build-up and passing it into the final third.

Which is what Hughes might just be concocting at the moment.

According to a report in Rousing the Kop, Liverpool could consider signing Elliot Anderson to partner Ryan Gravenberch.

“I think there’s a good chance he leaves Forest next summer, and when he does go he’s going to be in the Adam Wharton price category. He might even suit more teams more than a Wharton would. Everyone’s aware of Anderson, but I think more and more he could be one Liverpool look at. Could you see Anderson and Gravenberch next to each other? Easily," Graeme Bailey told the outlet.

Now this would be a surprising choice. The England international isn't a huge name at the moment and has very little experience in the Champions League.

However, Liverpool have always looked to make smart recruitments and on paper, Anderson could be exactly what they need.

He's a great progressive passer and he covers a lot of ground. Playing alongside Gravenberch, the duo could form an impeccable partnership.

Although, he'll have tough competition with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister also vying for that role.
