Liverpool may have finally find their next Trent Alexander-Arnold and are ready to agree a sensational deal with him.

There's no denying the Reds' former no.66 has left a void in the squad. Alexander-Arnold's absence has been felt at Liverpool.

He was practically a cheat-code when it comes to the build-up phase of the attack and then for his creativity as well. No one in European football could pass the ball and cross as well as him.

At Real Madrid, he has started his spell with the Spanish giants very slowly but things will work out for him in the end. He's a generational talent and he will be one of the best right-backs to have ever played the game.

It's just a real shame and he won't end up becoming a Liverpool legend. For that he would have needed to play more games and not leave the club on a free transfer.

That part of the deal and the way he left Liverpool has definitely rubbed people the wrong way.

But now the club must move forward and plan for life without him. What this season has highlighted is that they're yet to really replace him.

That could be about to change.

Anfield Index dropped an exclusive on Wednesday night about Liverpool being ready to make a sensational move for Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer.

The former Barcelona defender who now plays for Celta Vigo has a contract that expires in the summer of 2026. He's free to agree a pre-contract from January onwards and Liverpool are seemingly very interested in the 26-year-old's services.

This would be a really interesting move. Especially, because Mingueza is exactly of similar profile to Alexander-Arnold.

When it comes to the build-up phase of the game, Mingueza loves to be involved and if we're looking at right-backs who are under 30 years old in Europe's top five leagues the numbers prove that.

Only Alexander-Arnold (15.88 per 90) has averaged more progressive passes than Mingueza (11.66 per 90) in the last calendar year.

So, we're looking for the first-time at a right-back profile who does what Alexander-Arnold used to do. In this sense Mingueza could be his 2.0 version at Liverpool.

He's never going to be as good of a player but he's still a very solid and reliable option. He came through the ranks at Barcelona's academy so that should give you an indication of his talent.

Being a free agent means he will have a lot of interest in him. Considering Liverpool already have two right-backs, convincing him to join the Reds won't be easy.

But if Hughes can pull it off, it would be a sensational transfer.
