£49m forward Liverpool sold named WORST Premier League signing of the season
Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, and look like a real contender to win the Premier League this year.
Arne Slot has already got his side ready to compete against Manchester City and the Reds are currently five points better off than the Citizens in the league.

It has been a season to enjoy so far for Liverpool supporters, with a huge win over Manchester United at Old Trafford and a dominant victory over Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield some of the highlights.
For one ex-Red however it has been a season to forget so far, and now a former league winner with Liverpool has labelled him the ‘worst signing of the season’.
Sterling named worst Premier League signing
Steve Nicol, who won four league titles in his time at Anfield, has named Raheem Sterling as the transfer he believes has disappointed most.
“What’s he done? He’s done zero!” Nicol told ESPN. “At the very least come on and give [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Bukayo] Saka a break and push the rest of the players to be better.”
Sterling moved from Chelsea to Arsenal on a season-long loan that was initially viewed as a bargain deal by many.
“All the reasons he was bought, use your experience, push the other two to be better, give them competition and then when you do get a chance, make it count. He’s done nothing!”

Sterling’s season so far
Since Sterling left Liverpool to join Manchester City in a controversial £49m deal in 2015, he has had mixed success at a number of clubs.
For a while Sterling was one of City’s prized assets, but he was shipped off to Chelsea in 2022 and struggled to nail down a place in the team, mostly owing to the constantly revolving transfer roundabout that has Chelsea has been for the last few years.
In the summer Sterling was one of a number of players told they were no longer needed and should find a new team; this led the 29-year-old to Arsenal’s door.
Since making the move to the Gunners, Sterling has played a total of 333 minutes in all competitions, scoring and assisting once in the Carabao Cup.
This is what has led to the criticism from Nicol, and it’s hard to argue that it isn’t deserved.
There have been some tenuous links between Sterling and Liverpool over the past few years, but his most recent move is absolute proof that the Reds have been correct to stay well clear.
The four-time Premier League winner still has time to turn his career around, but he should be enjoying his prime years right now, and instead he’s at probably the lowest point in his career.
