Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The Egyptian King will still have a year left on his current deal at the end of the campaign but, instead of seeing out his contract, a mutual agreement was reached to terminate his contract with neither party forking out any money.

Most fans expected to have at least one more season of Salah before he left the club for good but, now that he's confirmed to be leaving, rumours have already started to emerge about the Reds' plan of action.

Since the start of the 2025-26 season talk about Salah's successor has been rife, especially since the attacker has not been at his best.

Many players have been linked with an Anfield switch and now, it feels like signing a new winger should be the Reds' top priority.

Liverpool could sign Yankuba Minteh for around £66 million this summer

Ever since Salah announced that he would be exiting Liverpool this summer, the rumour mill hasn't stopped turning.

Yan Diomande and Bazoumana Traore are the two players who have been the most strongly linked with an Anfield move.

However, there now seems to be a new candidate on the horizon with his current club already naming their fee for the attacker.

According to the Daily Mail, Brighton would be willing to listen to offers worth around £66 million for Yankuba Minteh this summer.

"Another option is Minteh at Brighton, whom Slot coached at Feyenoord," they wrote.

"The Seagulls wide man has really stepped up in the last 18 months after joining from Newcastle in 2024.

"Albion paid £33m and would realistically want to double their money.

"The Gambian, 21, said recently he has ‘fallen in love’ with Brighton and is settled on the south coast – but might find it tough to turn down a move to an elite side."

Liverpool must ensure that they sign the correct player to be Mohamed Salah's replacement

There's no hiding from the fact that Salah's exit will leave a massive void that needs to be filled.

The Egyptian King will forever be a Liverpool legend and, if they don't sign the correct replacement for him, they could find themselves in a whole world of trouble.

Indeed, players such as Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha could end up stepping up and plugging the gap but, with Federico Chiesa's future also undecided, the Reds could end up being rather short in attack.

The 2025-26 season is one that the Reds' fans will want to forget as soon as possible, especially since they're currently battling for fifth place in the Premier League.

Minteh would be an exceptional option for Liverpool due to his Premier League experience and the fact that he's still just 21 years old.

Other players will also be available but, for just £66 million, it's hard to think of a better option than the Gambia international at the moment.
