Liverpool must sign star who Lamine Yamal is scared of, he's perfect

Liverpool's summer is going to be a hectic one.

Almost every day a new transfer rumour emerges about Liverpool with the club at the centre of attention thanks to the recent arrival of Andoni Iraola.

Most fans thought that Arne Slot would be the man at the helm next term but, to the surprise of everyone, Fenway Sports Group chose against keeping the Dutchman as their manager and find themselves preparing for a new era under the Spaniard.

This new era is clearly going to be full of player changes with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all already exiting L4.

These moves mean that several players will need to be added to Iraola's ranks and, although there are a few stand-out candidates for signings, there's one in particular which makes an awful lot of sense.

Liverpool must do everything in their power to sign David Raum

David Raum is Germany and RB Leipzig's first-choice left-back.

The 28-year-old has been a regular feature in the Bundesliga over the last few years with his attacking style of play the first thing that catches your eyes.

And, even though Liverpool thought that they'd signed a generational talent in Milos Kerkez during the 2025-26 summer transfer window, he's yet to prove he has the capability to be the Reds' first-choice.

Indeed, the fact that Robertson has gone means he has a better chance of securing the role but with Kostas Tsimikas returning and the rumours about Raum emerging, second thoughts could be taking place at Anfield.

Liverpool have already sent scouts to watch the German play and, since he's only got a year left on his current deal with Leipzig, he'd probably be available for a cheaper than usual fee.

All of these things are playing perfectly into Liverpool's hands to make a move and, since they've not tried to sign anyone yet, there's no reason why Raum can't be their first acquisition.

Milos Kerkez was supposed to be the one

When Liverpool signed Kerkez, most of the Reds' fans thought that they'd have their left-back for the next 10 years.

But, as the season went on, it was clear that the Hungarian wasn't ready for the pressure of a team as big as Liverpool and to be honest, he crumbled.

Indeed, the left-back is only 21 years old so there's loads of time for him to turn things around.

But, with Robertson gone and Tsimikas not that great of a role model, it feels like some extra experience needs to be added to Liverpool's ranks.

Raum is probably one of the best ways for them to do this due to the sheer amount of experience he has and, the fact that he's contributed to 12 goals across all competitions this season is another massive selling point.

Here's hoping that he chooses against extending his stay with Leipzig and that he fancies a new challenge as he enters the prime years of his career because, if he does, Liverpool will more than likely be ready and waiting to swoop him up.

That is, especially since Lamine Yamal has named the German as the "toughest opponent" he's ever faced.
