Richard Hughes needs to start getting some plans in action ahead of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are clearly not going to win the Premier League title this season and, after they were beaten 1-0 by Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League tie, it's unclear whether they'll even advance to the quarter finals.

This would be a massive travesty on Liverpool's behalf, especially since they've only just won the Premier League.

However, if the worst does happen, it's clear that some major changes will need to be made at Anfield which is why Hughes and Arne Slot must start getting some deals in the works.

And now, it seems like that could be the case with the Anfield outfit being linked with yet another Premier League star.

Liverpool are being linked with a £30 million move for Tyler Adams

Liverpool have several areas among their squad that could do with strengthening.

The Reds' defence is arguably their weakest area but, of all the recent transfer rumours that have emerged, it seems like Slot and Hughes are focusing on their midfield.

Players such as Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have all been linked with Anfield exits over the last few months which is hardly surprising, considering where Liverpool currently find themselves.

However, one of their main issues is the lack of support that they have for Ryan Gravenberch who seems to be the club's only defensive midfielder.

But, as per a fresh update from Caught Offside, that could all be about to change.

The report starts by saying Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all on the 'lookout' for a Premier League level midfielder this summer.

Tyler Adams is the player in question and, according to their sources, the US international has been 'impressing scouts' from each of the aforementioned clubs.

A fee worth around £30 million could be enough to prise the former Leeds United man away from Bournemouth this summer.

Even though each club are interested in acquiring his services, they may end up waiting until after the World Cup to assess his fitness due to his injury history.

Tyler Adams would be a good stop-gap option for Liverpool

Seeing as though Gravenberch has just extended his Liverpool contract, it's clear that he's going to be a part of Liverpool's midfield for the foreseeable future.

Although the Dutchman's natural position isn't as a number six, he's more than done his part in helping the Reds be as dominant as they were last season.

But, since he's Liverpool's only defensive midfielder, he's overplayed and isn't often given enough rest to be the best version of himself.

This is why it's hardly surprising to see a new defensive midfielder linked with Liverpool every other day.

And, although Adams can also be used as a right-back if needed, the US International isn't at the level that Liverpool need to be looking at, especially if they want to become the best team in the world.

His injury history is also something to be concerned about with the midfielder missing 57 games in the last three seasons.

Adams would be a good stop-gap solution, especially for £30 million but, if Liverpool want to be the best, they need to take their standards up a level or two.
