This summer we've seen the beginning of that plan come to fruition. Liverpool have brought in Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.

All of them are young players, who could play for Liverpool for the next decade if everything goes according to plan.

Hughes obviously won't stop there. He's still trying to fortify the Reds' options by adding an attacker and a defender as well.

And there are rumours Liverpool are in for an exciting wonderkid who Arsenal also seem to be interested in.

Konstantinos Karetsas has been linked with a move to Liverpool recently. Now Indy Kaila, who is oddly becoming more and more reliable, having been the first to report on the Reds' interest in Wirtz, has suggested Liverpool are holding talks to sign Karetsas with officials having flown out to meet him.

This is not the only link between Liverpool and Karetsas. TuttoMercato has also reported that Liverpool are in the race for his signature.

So, there is clearly interest there in the Greek youngster, who stunned Andy Robertson in the Nations League playoffs earlier this year with a beautiful goal.

But Liverpool are not the only club interested in the young attacker. Arsenal were reportedly in talks with him earlier this month as per The Daily Mirror.

And if there is a race between the two clubs for his signature, Liverpool might be the clear winner.

Aside from all the recent trophies the Reds have won in the last five years and being the far bigger club, it might also be the case that Karetsas' heart beats for Liverpool, giving the club a massive advantage over Arsenal.

In a recent video uploaded by KRC Genk on the club's official TikTok account, Karetsas can be seen singing Liverpool's anthem, You'll Never Walk Alone with a beaming smile on his face.

Earlier in the interview he was asked about his favourite song, this was under the blooper section, so perhaps he had first made the choice to pick YNWA before changing his mind?

If so this could be a hint at his desire for Liverpool. Or we could really just be clutching at straws here.

One thing is for certain, Karetsas seems like the next big thing. As a teenager he's exploded onto the scene at Genk. He's small but quick and especially dynamic on the ball.

Securing his future would be a massive coup for Liverpool, even if the step-up to Liverpool's first team may be a bit too early at the moment.

But that's why FSG are working on a multi-club model, so Liverpool can sign players like Karetsas.
