Liverpool handed yet another massive transfer blow from Bayern Munich

Liverpool's future is still relatively undecided.

In fact, fans are even questioning whether Arne Slot will be in charge of the club at the start of the 2026-27 season after the Reds' poor performances this term.

And, the fact that they were beaten 2-0 by Paris Saint-Germain has only increased the pressure upon the Dutchman's shoulders.

However, this uncertainty hasn't stopped the rumour mill from turning with several world-class players already being linked with an Anfield switch.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of several players that they're currently being linked with, however, since they've chosen against making moves for those players up until now, there are many other clubs now vying for their services.

Liverpool will have to fend off Bayern Munich to sign Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon has managed to prove himself as one of Newcastle's best players once again this season.

The Englishman has been the shining light in Eddie Howe's team on more than one occasion this term with the attacker having a real chance of being called up to Thomas Tuchel's 2026 World Cup squad.

These performances have piqued the interest of several teams from across the globe but, ever since he was an Everton player, Liverpool have shown an interest in him.

And, even though talks of a potential transfer have died down recently, it seems like other clubs are making moves towards the attacker with journalist Sacha Tavolieri sharing a new update on his future.

"Bayern Munich have not ruled out a move for Anthony Gordon," he wrote via his personal X account.

"Bavarians already made contact with the player’s representatives.

"The Englishman, inspired by the success of Michael Olise, is not closing the door. As of now, Newcastle are not willing to consider a departure.

"Wait&See."

Liverpool must figure out the transfers they want to make before it's too late

Even though Liverpool spent around £450 million last summer, it's clear that some new players still need to be brought in.

There are many areas among Slot's ranks that could do with an upgrade and, unless they get ahead of their rivals in the transfer market, they could be left picking up everyone's scraps.

Indeed, Gordon may not be the best player in the world but the fact that he's Premier League proven and fairly versatile makes him an ideal candidate for Liverpool.

Others such as Nico Schlotterbeck and Bazoumana Toure also have a lot of interest in them so, if Slot and Richard Hughes don't act fast, they could be left in the dust.

Ibrahima Konate's future seems to lie with Liverpool which means that one less problem has been taken off their hands but, if Liverpool want to start challenging for the Premier League and Champions League again next season, some serious changes will need to be made.

Which is exactly why they need to act fast, so that they can welcome their top targets through the Anfield doors.
