Mohamed Salah’s future hasn’t been certain at Liverpool for a while now.

When the Egyptian King signed a new deal at Anfield last season, many supporters hoped that it would mark the end of speculation of the forward’s potential departure, but Salah’s future is less certain than ever.

After spending a number of games on Arne Slot’s bench before Christmas, Salah spoke out against the club and sparked rumours of an imminent departure.

It looks as though the 33-year-old will see out the season with the Reds, but a summer exit now looks likely.

Replacing Salah will be no easy task, but Liverpool have just received a huge update on a player who is the ‘obvious’ candidate.

Liverpool receive update on the future of Yan Diomande

RB Leipzig standout Yan Diomande has announced himself as one of the most sought-after players in Europe this season.

The 19-year-old winger has proven to be a phenomenal talent so far this campaign, with 11 goal contributions in just 18 games for his club.

Now, The Independent's chief football writer Miguel Delaney has claimed that the Ivorian won’t be on the move until the summer.

In the report, Delaney states that ‘every club in Europe’ want Diomande, also saying: “I’m told he won’t move this January, but if everything aligns in the summer and Salah leaves, he becomes an obvious option.”

The wonderkid also recently shared his desire to one day play for Liverpool.

Will Diomande end up at Anfield?

Owing to the number of teams in the hunt for his signature, Diomande will likely command a massive fee if he does leave Leipzig.

Liverpool demonstrated their willingness to spend big last summer, overhauling their Premier League winning squad and spending over £400 million in the process.

If Salah does leave in the summer, the Reds will almost definitely demand a sizeable fee for one of their all-time greats.

Should Diomande continue to shine in Germany, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Liverpool sanction a big spend to secure him as Salah’s replacement.

The prospect of lining up next to Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, alongside Diomande’s self-confessed desire to play at Anfield will undoubtedly give Liverpool the upper hand over any rivals.

If the Reds are willing to spend big again, Diomande’s move to Merseyside almost feels destined to happen.
