Liverpool handed GOLDEN chance with Real Madrid ready to agree mega sale

Real Madrid are ready to sell one of their most valuable assets and Liverpool have a golden chance to snap him up. It's been a long time coming.

Liverpool's massive summer overhaul hasn't really worked. Yet, anyway.

The Reds spent over £400m on new players in the biggest spend they've ever undertaken. The result is a team that doesn't fit together and has just two wins in their last eight Premier League fixtures.

There's no question, then, that they'll look at options in January. It's a lot easier to move some players around than it is to move on Arne Slot, after all, and it'll absolutely be their first port of call.

So Liverpool will be on the lookout for any deals that could give them an extra edge. Something that could move the squad closer to a proper unit.

Liverpool's Rodrygo chance

Liverpool have been fans of Rodrygo Goes for a long time now. They were actually attempting to sign him from Santos before Real Madrid and thought they had him at one point.

It was only the intervention of Santos youth coach Elano that stopped things. He was adamant that Rodrygo would develop quickly and that if the club waited a year, they could secure far more money than what Liverpool were offering for the teenager.

He was absolutely right and Real Madrid spent enormously on the then-18-year-old. Liverpool were never going to do that.

But fast-forward to 2025 and the Reds were once again heavily linked with Rodrygo. It was expected that he'd leave Real Madrid in the summer as Xabi Alonso didn't see a place for him - but the Brazilian wasn't willing to move.

Now, however, it looks very likely that he departs. The Athletic reports that Real Madrid do have January plans and top of their list is selling Rodrygo.

They need him to move in order to free up space for arrivals. His three starts from their 12 La Liga games certainly hammers home that he won't be a regular for them this season - a problem in a World Cup year.

And so it's all expected that Rodrygo does depart. Liverpool have long been fans and so here's their opportunity to get him.

All depending on the price, of course.
