Liverpool forward who CANNOT stop scoring agrees new contract
Liverpool have got some contract issues to solve.
Sporting director Richard Hughes needs to work out a formula as soon as possible for Ibrahima Konate - with the centre-back out of contract at the end of the season.
Then there are problems in midfield which need his attention.
We are led to believe that Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch are next in line for new deals - but that ignores the contract expiry date of 2027 for Curtis Jones.
With Liverpool already paying out record sums in wages it’s not going to be easy for the Reds’ exec to sort everyone out with what they need.
But there appears to be a breakthrough close in the case of one young forward who cannot stop scoring at present.
New contract for Keyrol Figueroa
Keyrol Figueroa, 19, is a goal-getter in Rob Page’s under-21 ranks - scoring 11 goals in 12 Premier League 2 outings this season and NINE in his last six.
The United States U19 international is beginning to make waves at the AXA Training Centre and was even included in Arne Slot’s first-team squad earlier this season.
Figueroa was on the bench for the EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace and bigger things are destined to come for the son of former Premier League star Maynor Figueroa.
Figueroa set for January loan move
Liverpool have got a goalscoring diamond on their hands and plans are being finalised to send the youngster on loan to a club in League One or League Two for the second half of the season.
That’s according to a report in the Athletic - which claims the Honduras-eligible striker will sign a new contract into the bargain.
Liverpool tend to conclude new deals for fringe and youth players before sending them out on loan - as seen recently for James McConnell and Luca Stephenson to name just two.
Figueroa will benefit from regular football in a senior league - and hopefully comes back from his loan spell as a genuine first-team option.
