Liverpool forward confirms brilliant injury update
Liverpool have been handed a timely injury boost.
At this period of the season Arne Slot has had to contend with more injuries than usual.
The Liverpool head-coach currently has the likes of Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak out injured. Meanwhile, Giovanni Leoni is already ruled out for the rest of the season.
Alisson and Frimpong are relatively long-term injuries as well. They aren't expected to return until November, which is a massive blow considering the former is the club's no.1 goalkeeper and the latter made a promising start to his first start in a while against Frankfurt before pulling up with his third hamstring injury of the season.
On top of all of that Isak is now seemingly injured as well. Although we don't quite know the extent of that injury so it remains to be seen just how severe it is.
Liverpool will want to manage the Swede quickly, given his injury problems in the past and the fact that he missed pre-season in the summer.
Sadly though Slot doesn't have too many back-up options. Jayden Danns and Will Wright are both injured at U21 level. The former isn't expected to be back until the new year.
However, Liverpool have been given a boost by the latter. Wright took to his Instagram stories as shared by Anything Liverpool on X to confirm that he's going to be back playing soon.
Wright picked up an injury in September and he was expected to miss two months, so his message confirms the timeline which would have seen him return to action in November.
Now it looks like that is likely going to be the case. Although given Wright is only 17-years-old, Liverpool will want to be very careful with him.
They won't overload the youngster and rush him back too soon. He's come from an environment at Salford City where he wasn't necessarily training everyday so the new demands are going to take a toll on his body.
Nonetheless, he's a huge talent and someone very much on the club's first-team radar. Within a day of his move being confirmed, he had already made his first-team debut and almost scored in front of the Kop at Anfield against Athletic Bilbao.
If Isak's injury is serious and long-term, he could absolutely play a role for the first-team in the coming months when he's back 100% fit, especially given Danns is not going to be involved because of the nature of his injury.
